Research Assistant

Duties

The appointee will work in a rigorous R&D environment to develop state-of-the-art wireless mesh router technologies or indoor positioning technologies based on advanced research results. The appointee will participate in the design, research, development, and testing processes, and create products that can be easily extended, integrated and maintained.

Requirements

1. Relevant degree in computer science and/or engineering with solid background on network programming, wireless network and/or media streaming.
2. Solid C/C++/JAVA software development experience in Linux.
3. Experience with embedded system development, scripting, MadWif, openWRT and cross compilation will be a plus.
4. Knowledge in or working experience with indoor positioning technologies a plus.
5. Independent and team orientated. Good technical background, organization skills and interpersonal and social communication skills.

Software Engineer

Duties

The appointee will participate and provide leadership in the design, research, development, and testing processes, and create products that can be easily extended, integrated and maintained.

Requirements

1. Master or PhD degree in computer science with solid background on network programming, wireless network and/or indoor positioning.
2. Hands-on experience with embedded system development and scripting. Familiar with MadWifi, openWRT and cross compilation a plus.
3. Knowledge in or working experience with indoor positioning technologies a plus.
4. Solid C/C++/JAVA software development experience in Linux.
5. Independent and team orientated.  Good technical background, organization skills and interpersonal and social skills.
6. Preferably with 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Engineering Manager

Duties

The appointee will oversee the whole development process of  wireless networking or multimedia research projects to ensure that the deliverable deadlines are met; manage all team members and oversee the day-to-day operations of the projects; take care of both managerial and technical matters; provide technical leadership and coordinate the integration of different project modules to develop good prototypes with industrial relevance; and visit local and overseas companies in various regions to obtain user requirements, establish collaboration and transfer the technologies to industry.  S/He will help applying for new funding to sustain the project if necessary.

Requirements

Applicants should have a master or higher degree in computer science or related disciplines. A minimum of 5 years industrial experience with at least 2 years in project management in an advanced R&D environment would be good.  Have relevant experience in software management and networking.  Cultural awareness of business practices covering Hong Kong, Mainland China and the U.S. is important but not essential. Strong organizational skills, problem-solving and communication skills, especially written English technical communication skills, are required. Familiarity with the funding schemes around the area, experience with VC fund raising and business plan writing is a plus.  The ideal appointee should be proficient in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
