Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2012:
Research and Develpment (Merit)

HP.com home Lavinet has won the Merit Award in the Research and Development category at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) 2012 held from December 3 to 5 in Brunei.  His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Ministater's Office, awarded the prizes to the winners on 5 Dec 2012.

The APICTA is a prestigious international award programme in the Asia Pacific region. There are total 157 nominations from 16 participating economies. This is well-deserved and demonstrates the recognition of the ingenuity and excellence of Lavinet team.

Hong Kong ICT Awards 2012:
Best Innovation & Research Award (Bronze)
The HKUST Lavinet wireless mesh team has won the bronze award in the category of the Best Innovation & Research Award (College & Undergraduates) in the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2012 (Official web site click here)The project, titled “A Lean Wireless Infrastructure Network for Aviation and other Industries,” has been under research and development over the past years and successfully transferred to local industries for commercial use.

Supported by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong Productivity Council, and Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the HKICT Awards have been widely acknowledged by the industry. The awards have not only strengthened the image of HK ICT industry in both local and international market, but also provide great opportunities for the ICT elites to deliver their creative and innovative ICT ideas.

HP Labs Innovation Research Awards in 2011
HP.com home LAvinet is selected to receive an award through the fourth annual HP Labs Innovation Research Program (IRP).

Based on an open and competitive call for proposals, the IRP hs been designed to create opportunities for researchers around the world to engage in groundbreaking collaborative research with HP. In 2011 the IRP attracted 626 proposals from 525 researchers in 232 universities and more than 30 countries. After careful review by HP Labs scientists and technologists, 62 professors in 51 institutions in 11 countries have been selected to receive a 2011 HP Labs Innovation Research Award.

We are very honored to make HKUST joining the ranks of Stanford and MIT in the United States, Imperial College in London and Tsinghua University in Beijing.
